How to get there

Parking: Parking at the apartments (free). It is 21.8 km by car to Polana Jakuszycka (about 30 minutes) via the border crossing at Harrachov.
Getting there from us: 21.8 km by car from the apartments (about 30 minutes). The Harrachov–Jakuszyce border crossing is right next to the centre.
Opening hours: Parking and use of the groomed tracks are charged in PLN. Check prices and track conditions in advance on the centre's website.

About the trip

Poland's largest cross-country skiing centre, in the saddle between the Krkonoše and the Jizera Mountains. Sitting at 900 metres, it holds snow longer than anywhere nearby and the tracks are groomed all winter – this is where Bieg Piastów, Poland's biggest long-distance race, is run. In summer it is a starting point for cycling routes into the Jizera Mountains, among them the ride to Orle.

Personal tip from us

When there is no snow in Rokytnice, there usually still is in Jakuszyce – it is our fallback for cross-country skiing in a poor winter.

Tips

Snow lasts longer here than at the lower altitudes around Rokytnice.
The centre hosts Bieg Piastów – expect crowds around the race date.
In summer a cycling route runs from here to the Orle hut in the Jizera Mountains.

Safety

Payment is in PLN – bring cash or a card with a good exchange rate.
This is abroad – bring identification and check that your travel insurance is valid.
The weather in the saddle is harsher than in the valley and the wind can be strong.
