How to get there

Parking
Parking at the apartments (free). It is 16.5 km by car to the tower (about 26 minutes), then a short climb from the car park.
Getting there from us
16.5 km by car from the apartments (about 26 minutes). On foot it is 12.6 km one way, so more of a full-day option.
Opening hours
Entry to the tower is charged and it opens only in season – check the hours and the price in advance.

About the trip

A stone lookout tower on Hvězda hill, on the boundary of the Krkonoše and the Jizera Mountains. In good visibility you can see Ještěd, the Jizera Mountains and the entire Krkonoše ridge – it is the best panorama for miles around. A short but steep forest path leads up from the car park, then stairs to the gallery.

Personal tip from us

Do not go in fog – the whole point is the view, and without it this is just a hill with stairs.

Tips

  • The tower is closed out of season, but you can always walk to the summit.
  • It combines well with the Jára Cimrman Museum in Příchovice, just minutes away by car.
  • The best light is late afternoon, when the sun falls on the Krkonoše ridge.

Safety

  • The climb from the car park is short but steep, and it ices up in winter.
  • The tower gallery is high and often windy.
